Frisbee Golf

Frisbee Golf

My friend James on the (I think) 11th hole.
I went to Golden Gate park a few days ago and ended up playing some frisbee golf with a few friends.  Frisbee golf is somewhat like regular golf but with a frisbee (If you couldn't get that much just by it's name).  There is a course and the one at Golden Gate had 18 holes.  Just like golf each course had its own unique obstacles (mostly trees that are perfectly in your way).  The goal is to get the frisbee into a basket (which is equivalent to the hole the golf ball goes into).  This was my first time playing, and it was weird to throw these particular frisbees.  These disks are a lot smaller than your standard disk but much more dense and there are three different kinds.  The disk you start with is your driver, which is meant for long distances.  Then next is a mid range,  which is used for medium distances.  Then you have a frisbee that is basically a putter for your close up shots.  The scoring is the same as golf so each hole has a certain amount of throws for you to make it in so you can get a birdie or par and so on.

Frisbee golf is an easy going, low intense game that requires more skills than speed or strength.  I think I am going to need some practice, which I plan on getting soon.

Any good tips for playing frisbee golf??

Ultimate Frisbee

Ultimate Frisbee

I am a huge fan of playing ultimate frisbee.  For those who do not know what ultimate frisbee is, it is a combination of soccer and football with a frisbee.   It starts by a member on the opposing team pitching the frisbee to you and your team.  Once you catch the diskyour legs cannot move, and you have to send the frisbee up the field to a fellow team member.  The other team can get the frisbee by intercepting it or if the disk lands on the ground.   There are end zones where you catch the frisbee in to score a point. It's like soccer because you are constantly running, and its like football since you score in an end zone.

I found a group of players online and met up with 10 guys for a game at the Presidio.  It is pretty interesting because how it works is that you sign up on a list serve and a guy named David is in charge of it.   He will email everyone a few hour before, asking if anyone is interested to play.  If enough people say yes then it is game on.  It was my first time at the Presidio; it is a huge park on the outskirts of San Francisco.  We played on a soccer field for about an hour.  It was a great time and I can't wait to play next week.

Anyone interested in joining let me know.
